Henry Setright QC (for the respondent mother), and Teertha Gupta QC & Jacqueline Renton (for Reunite, interveners) appeared in the Court of Appeal on the 10th February in the first ever substantive 1996 Hague Convention case.
The case is very important as the court will consider for the first time ever the jurisdictional basis of an application for a child’s return to a state that is a signatory to the 1996 Hague Convention (but not 1980 Hague Convention). Judgement has been reserved.
